How To Join DASH Athletics Club

If you or your child would like to join the Club you can either contact us via email or by ringing Mike on 07429 929 502.  Alternatively, just come along to one of our sessions, and our coaches will be happy to speak to you about the Club.

When you come along to your first training session a coach or committee member will go through the process of joing the Club with you and explain a little more about our various activitites and benefits of joining DASH AC. Athletics can seem a daunting activity to be involved in, but our coaches will help to answer any questions you may have. Each athlete will be assigned to a group and a coach, who will be able to assess your skill-levels and abilities and move you to the most appropriate coach or training group. This assessment may take up to four weeks.

Anyone who attends a session will be asked to fill out an athlete registration form, so that we have your basic details and contact details, mainly for health and safety reasons. You will also be provided with information on club membership and the benefits of membership, however you will not be required to join straight away.

You will be given a Club membership form at your first session or soon after. The coach should explain that you should hang onto this membership form until you are sure you want to join the Club. We expect most new athletes to join within their first 4 to 6 weeks at the Club. If you have been coming much longer than this and not joined, we will contact you to see how you are getting on at the Club. Please note that if you join the club you will be charged a reduced rate for club sessions.

When you have decided that you would like to join the Club, you should complete the membership form given to you when you first attended a session, and return it with the appropriate annual membership fee to the address on the form, or to your coach.

Once your membership form has been processed, you will receive confirmation of this, usually in the post. From October 2011 you will also recieve a free Club T-Shirt.

Club Members will also be registered by the Club with England Athletics, and will receive an England Athletics Membership Card / Competition Licence in the post, usually in the spring.

What Kit Do I Need?

All New Members will receive a free T-Shirt when they join at first and will be asked to buy a club vest and black or blue shorts for competitions. It is compulsory to wear your DASH T-Shirt / Hoody, club vest and shorts at competitions. Most club members will also get a DASH Hoodie!!

We also have a wide range of kit available to buy for training and competition. Our range of kit is available to order. Please ask any of the coaches for a Kit Order Form or download the form from the link on this page.

You can order your club kit through the club shop section on this website or speak to one of the coaches at training.

It is important for athletes when training and competing that they have appropriate training shoes, clothing and drinks.

Athletes taking part in track and field will need a pair of spikes. For young athletes, it is recommended that you wear a pair of general or middle-distance spikes, as these give the most cushioning and protection and can be used for all events. It is very easy to end up paying too much for a pair of spikes, so our please ask your coach for help when choosing your first pair. There is often a range of spikes in stock so please check our shop on this site and ask for more details on anything you see.
